Patrol Division

The Patrol Division is the most visible of our operations and the first contact most citizens will have with the agency. Three Sergeants, two Corporals, and about 20 officers deliver around the clock services based on the principles of Community Oriented Policing and a commitment “to Serve and Protect.” Patrol services include emergency and non-emergency call response, investigation of offenses, patrol of business and residential areas, traffic enforcement, DUI and drug interdiction, and cooperative operations with our many neighboring partners. Officers are also available to come to your home or community group for presentations on a variety of topics, special events, or just to connect and hear your concerns.

To contact a member of the patrol team, please call our Emergency Services Communication Center (ESCC) at (605)394-2191.

Chief Connell shared his gratitude for the honor, stating, “Being selected as the ‘Agency of the Year’ is truly an honor. Thank you to the South Dakota Law Enforcement Training Center for recognizing the Box Elder Police Department’s contributions to public safety in our state."

"A special thank you to Box Elder’s Chris Misselt, who has been the ‘tip of the spear’ for coordinating and executing many training curriculums that have positively impacted police agencies throughout the State of South Dakota."
