December sales tax numbers were just released by the South Dakota Department of Revenue showing the City of Box Elder having a sales tax growth of 27.90% over the same period in 2023. This follows a 21.12% increase in November, resulting in a 9.51% overall growth for 2024 compared to 2023.
Box Elder's robust economic growth continues to attract new businesses, solidifying its reputation as a stable and thriving market, reflecting strong confidence from national brands in the city's vitality and future potential. New additions further enhance local amenities and economic opportunities for residents and visitors alike.
"Our community's ongoing expansion and economic stability are driving interest from prominent retailers and restaurants looking to invest in Box Elder," said Sean Overeynder, Director of Economic and Community Development. The growth of Box Elder is expected to continue as the United States Air Force continues its preparations for the B-21 bomber arrival which will bring more military and civilian personnel to Ellsworth Air Force Base.
